A Condition Called Love (Hananoi-kun to Koi no Yamai), a manga by Megumi Morino, is getting an anime adaptation that will air in Japan in April 2024. The main cast and staff for the anime were also announced recently. The lead roles of Hotaru Hinase and Saki Hanano will be voiced by Kana Hanazawa and Chiaki Kobayashi.

The anime will be directed by Tomoe Makino, who previously worked on Aharen–san wa Hakarenai. The animation production will be done by East Fish Studio. Some of the other key staff members are:
- Hitomi Amamiya (Chillin’ in My 30s after Getting Fired from the Demon King’s Army) as the series composer and scriptwriter
- Akiko Satou (Trigun Stampede co-character designer) as the character designer
- yamazo (Encouragement of Climb: Next Summit) as the music composer
The manga, which is published by Kodansha, started in Dessert magazine in 2017 and has 14 volumes as of November 13, 2023. Kodansha USA summarizes the story as:
Hotaru is a 16-year-old high school first-year who has always been ambivalent about love, preferring instead to have a lively life with her family and friends. So when she sees her schoolmate, Hananoi-kun, sitting in the snow after a messy, public breakup, she thinks nothing of offering to share her umbrella. But when he asks her out in the middle of her classroom the next day, she can’t help but feel that her life is about to change in a big way…
