It’s about to get magical as Yone Sawata’s shōjo Acro Trip manga is confirmed to get TV anime soon! The announcement was made on Thursday, Dec 1, via a newly-established website for the series. A 2024 premiere year was revealed, coupled with a colorful visual illustrated by Sawata to commemorate the news.

First released in 2017, Acro Trip is a manga that centers on the life and misadventures of Chizuko Date, a middle-school otaku. Despite its title, the main protagonist of the series is actually pretty normal who doesn’t wield any magic. Nonetheless, Chizuko is a big fan of Berry Blossom, the local magical girl who protects their city against evil. But since Chroma, the leader of the local evil organization in their area, is incredibly weak, Berry Blossom becomes as close as to being invisible in the eyes of the public. Frustrated and determined to put her idol in the spotlight, Chizuko finds herself joining the organization of Chroma.
Acro Trip is serialized in Shueisha’s Ribon magazine. Its fifth tankoubon volume is set for release on January 25, 2023.
Before the confirmation of the manga getting TV anime, Sawata already teased fans via Twitter about an “announcement” as early as Nov 30. The tweet was accompanied by an illustration featuring Chizu and Chroma.
Details about the cast, key staff members, and specific premiere date of the series are expected to be revealed soon.
