Crunchyroll published an interview with Attack on Titan creator, Hajime Isayama during the Anime NYC convention. This was notably Isayama’s first US appearance, which was received by a lot of applause and support from fans. This then makes his insights all the more valuable!
The questions revolve around Attack on Titan‘s ending, lore, future plans, and even Game of Thrones – which is Isayama’s favorite series.
The interview mentioned Levi Ackerman, one of Attack on Titan‘s most popular characters. This is tied to Isayama’s possible plans in the future.
Crunchyroll asked, “Do you foresee any further spinoffs or do you feel you’ve told as much of the Attack on Titan story as you could?” which Isayama responded, “I have no plans right now.”
When Crunchyroll brought up possible backstories of Hange or any original Squad Levi members, Isayama added, “Regarding Levi, I actually have something in my mind, but at the same time, I don’t know if I will be able to write that or not.”
Isayama further elaborated, “For example, I have imagined what the story of Levi would be in my mind, but at the same time, whether I am able to output it, that’s a whole other story because writing a manga is a really difficult task for me.”
In other words, Isayama has thought of a spin-off story about Levi, but it is unclear if it will materialize. However, the possibility is there so let us hope that it will become a reality in the future! After all, Levi is arguably the ultimate fan favorite. He is a very interesting character with a huge amount of potential to explore.
