POV: The world is ending, but you’ve got one peaceful moment on a boat so might as well confess to your crush.
That’s exactly how it was for Armin and Annie two of the most important characters of the hit series, Attack on Titan. It was an eventful weekend for everyone in the fandom, and some of the fans can’t help but laugh at the fact that despite seeing the whole world end, AruAni, as they are fondly called, still had the time to have a lovey-dovey moment in the Azumabito’s boat.
As the first episode of Attack on Titan: The Series Finale aired, all eyes were on Eren. We saw the man kill numerous innocent people in his search of freedom, and as the climax progressed, we saw several of his close friends perish. In this episode, the death toll rose from Hange to Floch, leaving Armin befuddled. Fortunately, he was able to communicate with Annie in the thick of everything.
Armin’s sentiments about Annie have evolved dramatically over the years, despite the fact that she was once his nemesis. After absorbing the Colossal Titan, he was able to recall previously unknown memories of Annie, and the anime alluded to Armin’s attachment to the girl even when she was in slumber. Armin has yet to act on his thoughts now that Annie is awake, but we did get a hint of what’s to come this week.

Annie acknowledged in the series finale that she was perplexed by the amount of time Armin spent with her while she was in the crystal. Annie speculated that Armin may have hung out with other females because she could hear everything that was going on. Yet, in the end, the child stated that he went to see Annie “because I wanted to see” her. The duo blushes at the intimate confession, and if they weren’t facing the end of the world, the moment would be straight out of a rom-com.
Armin and Annie clearly have feelings for one other, but they don’t have time to work it out right now. First and foremost, the crew must halt Eren. With murder on his hands, the former hero is hell-bent on annihilating humanity in order to keep Eldians secure. Yet, as we all know, the boy’s quest for freedom comes at much too great a price for Mikasa and her companions to bear.
