Attack on Titan will be getting a live-stage musical adaptation this January 2023! This is announced by the musical’s official Twitter account. They also released a promotional video on YouTube. The details of the stage musical were also revealed on the official website:
- January 7-9, 2022 (1PM & 6PM showtime) – Orix Theater, Osaka, Japan
- January 14-24, 2022 (except January 17) (1PM & 6PM showtime will vary) – Japan Seinenkan Hall, Tokyo, Japan
Take note that the release date schedule may still be subject to change. The changes will be reported by the musical’s Twitter account.
The website also included the ticketing information. Aspiring audiences can win a pre-reserve lottery ticket by sending entries on various outlets. The pre-sale tickets will be available on October 23 – November 1, 2022. The general sale of tickets will be on November 5, 2022. This information may also be subject to change.

Raimu Okamiya will play as the protagonist, Eren Yeager, while Sara Takatsuki will be Mikasa Ackerman. Eito Konishi‘s role is Armin Arlert, and Ryo Matsuda will be Levi Ackerman.
Attack on Titan is about a boy named Eren Yeager who lived within a walled civilization. He yearned to learn the world outside the walls. His peace was interrupted when a man-eating giant called a “Titan” destroyed the walls on one fateful day. It was this incident that spurred the young Eren to join the military branch dedicated to fight Titans – Survey Corps. He was joined by his two best friends, Mikasa Ackerman and Armin Arlert. His life as a soldier opened his eyes to the harsh reality he was truly grappling with. He also discovered that the Titans he was fighting against have a complicated history. Will he be able to protect his home with the truths he was presented with?

Hajime Isayama authored and illustrated Attack on Titan. He first published the serialized work on Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shounen Magazine in 2009. The work became a hit as evidenced by its achievements. In 2011, it won under the Shounen category in the 35th Kodansha Manga Awards. It was nominated in the 4th Manga Taisho Awards and Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2012. These early achievements guaranteed Attack on Titan‘s success in the next years.
It was published in English by Kodansha USA in 2013, which skyrocketed the sales. Kodansha credited their financial success in 2014 to Attack on Titan, alongside another popular work, Kaizoku to Yobareta Otoko novel. As of 2014, it has over 30 million copies printed and sold. In 2019, it has over 100 million copies sold.

The work has 34 manga volumes in total that ended in April 2021. It also spawned an anime adaptation series that started in 2013 and is still ongoing. There are also spin-off shows, novels, a live action adaptation, exhibitions, and video games.
Attack on Titan was already slated to have a stage play adaptation in 2017, until one of the main staff, Kazutaka Yoshino passed away. It was cancelled, and it just confirmed to push through this 2023 as a musical. Hoping that everything goes well and everyone will enjoy the show!
