Good news, manga readers! There’s a new series to add to your must-reads. Yasuko Kobayashi, the anime scriptwriter for Attack on Titan, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and Kakegurui has released her latest manga, titled Danzai Lock (Six Wards of Punishment). The series made its debut on Kodansha’s Comic Days on Tuesday, September 20. It features illustrations by artist Saki Nonoyama.

Danzai Lock

Danzai Lock (Six Wards of Punishment) is set in a world driven by a harsh sense of justice. Specifically, everyone who kills another will be sentenced to death, regardless of the reason and circumstances that led to the act. The perpetrators will be sent to what they call the “Six Prison Districts” while awaiting their death sentence. Yushin, a man calling himself a chaplain and wearing priestly garb is among those who are sent to one of these districts. There, he encounters Kunoji, a man who wields a sword.

The series is the latest addition to Kobayashi’s burgeoning collection of works. In 2008, she released the manga series Witchblade Takeru, which is based on the Witchblade anime. This was followed by the Kamen Rider Amazons Gaiden: Hotarubi manga in 2018.
