Black Clover is preparing for a major return, which will culminate this summer. After all, the popular shonen series is about to return to the big screen with the release of its debut anime feature. Of course, this means that all eyes are on Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King right now, and this week’s update on the film’s novelization has stirred interest.
After all, Black Clover will be the subject of not one, but two novels. The two will make their Japanese premiere on June 9th, just before the release of the Black Clover film. So, if you’re curious about what each will include, keep reading!
It turns out that one book will be published by J Book, and it will be written by Johnny Onda. “A novelization by Johnny Onda, who wrote the screenplay for the movie, prior to its release of the movie! This is a must-read book for those who want to learn more about the movie before watching it, or for those who want to enjoy it more deeply after watching it,” the book’s blurb states. The second book will be written by Bunko Mirai, and novelist Kuma Ataro will undertake a more traditional adaptation of the film’s tale,
It continues: “In a world where magic is everything, Asta is a boy born without any magical power. Dreaming of one day becoming a “magic emperor,” he has fought many epic battles. The new enemy that stands in his way is the “magic emperor of all time”⁉ A boy who aspires to be a magic emperor vs. The death struggle against the most fearsome enemy begins now…”
As you can see, the two volumes are distinct, and they will also have artwork associated with Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King. The J Book adaptation will include four drawings, while the other will only have two. These books claim to prepare fans for the Black Clover film, and once in cinemas, fans will receive another anime goodie.

The gift’s description reads, “Character sheets for the movie characters. Yki Tabata’s rough sketches of the four Wizard Kings. Question and Answer section with Tabata about the movie. 20-page tie-in story written by Johnny Onda. Comments from the voice actors, TREASURE, and production team about the movie and notable scenes.”
