Blue Lock Releases Official Opening Theme Song

Is everyone else ready for the sports anime that will break the internet? Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura’s Blue Lock the Anime just released the official opening theme song that will be used by the TV Anime Adaptation for its upcoming season! 

On the 9th of October 2022, the official Twitter account and website of the Blue Lock anime revealed its opening themse entitled Chaos ga Kiwamaru (english title: Chaos Reigns) which is performed by the band, Unison Square Garden. 

The Blue Lock anime began streaming on the 8th of October and it has been garnering multiple reactions from both manga fans and new fans of the series alike! The show introduces a new take on traditional sports anime and is actually more shounen-like than it is sports.

Tetsuaki Watanabe (Powerful Pro Yaky Powerful Kk-hen) is directing the anime at 8-Bit, with associate director Shunsuke Ishikawa. Taku Kishimoto (Haikyu!!, Silver Spoon, 2019 Fruits Basket) is supervising and authoring the series scripts, while Kaneshiro from the manga is supervising the story. The concept adviser is Yutaka Uemura (director of Tanya the Evil). Masaru Shind (Fruits Basket, Macross Delta, My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU) is the principal character designer and chief animation director, with Kenji Tanabe and Kento Toya also serving in that capacity. The soundtrack is composed by Jun Murayama. Shugo Nakamura will perform “Winner,” the anime’s last theme song.

Kodansha comics, the company which publishes and licenses the Blue Lock manga in English describes the story:

After a disastrous defeat at the 2018 World Cup, Japan’s team struggles to regroup. But what’s missing? An absolute Ace Striker, who can guide them to the win. The Japan Football Union is hell-bent on creating a striker who hungers for goals and thirsts for victory, and who can be the decisive instrument in turning around a losing match…and to do so, they’ve gathered 300 of Japan’s best and brightest youth players. Who will emerge to lead the team…and will they be able to out-muscle and out-ego everyone who stands in their way?

The first season of the Blue Lock anime is licensed for 24 episodes and will run in two cours. You can stream it in dub and sub on Crunchyroll and on Netflix in selected countries.
