The official Twitter of Bungo Stray Dogs announced that the manga will be on a hiatus. This meant that the manga will not have a new chapter on the upcoming issue of Kadokawa’s Young Ace Comics. This latest November issue is set to be published on October 4, 2022. The reasons for the hiatus were not disclosed, stating it as “unforeseen circumstances”. It was also not specified how long the hiatus will be. Well, Bungo Stray Dogs fans will have to wait.
This was not the first time the Bungo Stray Dogs manga ever went on hiatus. The first one happened last January 2021. The reasons were also due to “unforeseen circumstances” as well. They specifically stated that it will only be 1-month long hiatus. This time, however, there was no definite length.

Bungo Stray Dogs Story
Bungo Stray Dogs is centered around an orphaned boy named Atsushi Nakajima. He was kicked out of the orphanage, as he was considered “useless”. He was left to fend for himself in the streets. He ended up starving because of his own hesitation to rob someone. His life turned upside down when he rescued a man named Osamu Dazai from drowning.
Osamu Dazai works for the Armed Detective Agency where people with supernatural abilities are working. They handle criminal cases that are beyond an ordinary police’s capabilities. He offered Atsushi an opportunity to work for them. Specifically Dazai and his partner, Doppo Kunikida, are tracking down a mysterious tiger attacking the city. Atsushi reluctantly agreed.
Atsushi also discovered that he also has a supernatural ability as well. He has to master his own power to become a force for good. Now that there is an incoming war between the Armed Detective Agency and the crime syndicate, Port Mafia.

Bungo Stray Dogs Manga Background
Kafka Asigiri is the author of Bungo Stray Dogs, while Sango Harukawa is the illustrator. It started serialization on Kadokawa Shoten’s Young Ace Comics in 2012. The first volume was published into a paperback and e-book in 2013. As of March 2022, there are 22 volumes of the manga.
Yen Press licensed the manga for English publication, releasing the first volume in 2016. The 21st volume was released last June 2022.
It also has a gag spin-off manga series, Bungo Stray Dogs Wan!, which was also serialized in Kadokawa Shoten’s Young Ace Comics in 2016. As of March 2022, there are 9 volumes published. They were also published in English by Yen Press in 2022, and 2 volumes are currently on sale.
Bungo Stray Dogs Anime Background
Bungo Stray Dogs was adapted into an anime in 2016, with Bones serving as its animation production house. There have been 3 seasons aired, with the upcoming 4th season arriving in January 2023. It was also streaming on online platforms such as Crunchyroll, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and many more.
The spin-off manga was also adapted into an anime series that aired in 2021. At the same time, a theatrical film entitled, Bungo Stray Dogs: Dead Apple, was released in Japan theaters last March 2018. It was eventually streamed by Cruncyroll on more territories in 2018.
Moreover, Bungo Stray Dogs also spawned a live action adaptation, stage plays, and a video game.
