WHAT IS BY THE GRACE OF THE GODS ABOUT?
By the Grace of the Gods centers around the life of Ryoma Takebayashi, a lonely man who live a difficult life until he died in an unfortunate accident while he was asleep. He is visited in the afterlife by three gods who grew fond of him and sent him to another world as a child, where he uses his innate knowledge and abilities, paired with the god’s blessings, to live a new existence full of obstacles and joyous meetings.

The series started as a light novel written by Roy and illustrated by Ririnra, with the title “The Man Picked Up By the Gods” (Kami-tachi ni Hirowarete Otoko). It began publication on the user-generated novel publishing website Shousetsuka ni Narou! (Let’s Become Novelists!) on January 2014, with a revised version beginning serialization in September 2025.
Hobby Japan later bought the series and has released 12 volumes under its HJ Novels imprint from September 2017. Ranran’s manga adaptation of the novel has been serialized online via Square Enix’s Manga UP! website since November 2017, and had collected the manga in 9 tankōbon volumes. J-Novel licensed the novel in North America, while Square Enix licensed the manga. The first season of the anime adapted by Maho Film aired from October to December 2020.
