Critic Reviews
On the other hand, the anime was applauded in Rotten Tomatoes, with some pointing out its flaws. Here are some of the positive reviews from the critics:
Everyone involved here, Netflix, CDPR and Trigger knocked it out of the park with Edgerunners. It’s a beautiful, haunting realization of Night City and the world created from the games while being a gorgeously animated, compelling character drama as well.
Paul Tassi from Forbes
It isn’t as philosophical or self-aware as more prominent cyberpunk anime or as beautifully polished as Arcane, but Cyberpunk: Edgerunners still measures up well in the genre and as an extension of the game that inspired it.
Rick Marshall, Digital Trends
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is hands down a Netflix anime original that screams for your attention and is easily one of the best productions that the streaming service has presented. Fan of the games or not, Edgerunners is well worth your time.
Evan Valentine, ComicBook.com
While it feels disinterested in its female characters outside of needing to be protected or saved; the series uses its unique visual style & melancholic tone to explore strong ideas of expectation, addiction, and body horror with a cyberpunk flair.

Audience Reviews
Aside from critics, audiences also shared their enthusiasm with the anime by giving it 5 stars. Here are some of the most recent ones:
Excellent adaptation of the game, the story is astonishingly well constructed and the characters are touching and charismatic.
Romo L
Literally one of the most well put together animes I’ve ever watched. I cannot believe it’s based on a video game. The animation is amazing, sound track is amazing, story is very solid, and characters are very loveable. Please watch this it’s a great short anime to watch!
Dom
An incredible show from start to finish. Great animation, great music and plenty of exciting moments with a great plot. I really loved watching this show and was sad to see it end.
Anthony R
Absolutely fantastic. Had to watch it all at once because I could not go to sleep after watching 1 episode. 10/10
Arya B
There are also some audiences who pointed out its shortcomings, thus not being able to give a 5 star rating. One user so far mentioned the problem with the English subtitles:
Just like the game at launch, the subtitles are inaccurate and there’s flashing lights that should have had a seizure warning on them. Unlike the game, the voice acting in both English and Japanese are not great. Interesting visually, but how many times can we see this studio do the same thing over and over.
Jake L
Good show. It’s only downside was that it was too short. The side characters felt mostly hollow, had they’ve been fleshed out more, it would easily be 5/5.
Rangel V
Incredible action, fabulous animation, gore galore and unapologetic in every area. The length of the series is the only issue, but perfect in every other area, especially in fidelity to the source material.
Cesar G
The artwork and the coloring in this show is mesmerizing, though the story seemed a little dry. A lot of this and a lot of that with a story, but it didn’t feel like it had much substance; just rushed through it.

Is Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Good, Bad, Or Worth Watching?
So far, the majority of the critics and audience pointed out the story and the characters as the problem of the anime. The English subtitles was mentioned only once.
The current rating and reviews may still change, but it is worth noting that as of now, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners still managed to receive praises and acclaim. However, it is not immune to criticism. Despite only one user pointing out the English subtitles, it doesn’t mean that it’s invalid.
This is in consideration of many Twitter users expressing their disappointment for the subtitles. It meant that some subtitles may be hard to read or understand. An audience expressing their opinion about the anime they have watched is nothing wrong at all. It can even help the anime creators and producers to improve their work next time so that it will be more enjoyable.
