DC’s Joker Manga Collab To End With Next Chapter

By Janiene LerioJanuary 20, 2023

Satoshi Miyakawa and Keisuke Got’s Wanope Joker (Joker: The One-Man Operation) manga will end with the next chapter, according to the eighth issue of Kodansha’s Morning magazine published on Thursday. Because the manga is serialized irregularly, the final chapter will not appear in the magazine’s next issue.

The story of the manga begins when Batman is suddenly and inexplicably transformed into a baby. Joker discovers the baby and takes him in, intending to raise the child and turn his Dark Knight nemesis into a second Clown Prince of Crime.

Miyakawa and Got debuted the manga in the Morning Issue in January 2021 as part of a collaboration with DC Comics. In February 2022, Kodansha released the manga’s second compiled book volume.

As part of the same collaboration, Miyakawa and Kai Kitag will release the Superman vs. Meshi: Superman no Hitori Meshi (Superman vs. Food: Superman Dining Alone) manga in Kodansha’s Evening magazine and Comic Days app in June 2021. This second phase of the collaboration also included the release of the Batman Justice Buster manga in Morning in December 2020 by manga creator duo Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi (Ultraman, Linebarrels of Iron).

Miyakawa and Kei It began the Uch Senkan Tiramisu (Space Battleship Tiramisu) manga on Shinchosha’s Kurage Bunch website in October 2015 and plan to finish it by 2020. The manga was adapted into a 13-episode anime series, which debuted in April 2018. Crunchyroll broadcast the series live as it aired in Japan, while Funimation broadcast an English dub. In October 2018, a second season titled Space Battleship Tiramisu Zwei premiered. Crunchyroll re-broadcast the series with subtitles, and Funimation aired a dubbed version as it aired in Japan.

The manga is definitely one of a kind, and it’s a shame to see it end. Are you putting this DC-based manga on your reading list? Why or why not? Let us know!
