What’s in a name? For Muichiro Tokito, the Mist Hashira, his name is a source of pain and confusion. He was told that the “Mu” in his name means incompetence, but he proved otherwise in the latest episode of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. In a stunning display of skill and courage, he faced one of the most dangerous demons in the world and unlocked a hidden power that could change the fate of the demon slayer corps. But before he could achieve this feat, he had to face his own demons from his past. This is the story of “The Mu in Muichiro”, the eighth episode of Demon Slayer Season 3.
The Swordsmith Village Arc
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is one of the most popular anime series of recent times, based on the manga by Koyoharu Gotouge. It follows the adventures of Tanjiro Kamado, a young boy who becomes a demon slayer after his family is killed by demons. The anime is currently airing its third season, which adapts the Swordsmith Village arc of the manga, where Tanjiro and his friends join forces with the remaining Hashira to fight against Muzan Kibutsuji and the Upper Rank demons.
The Backstory and the Battle of Muichiro Tokito
The episode focused on the backstory and the battle of Muichiro Tokito, the Mist Hashira, who faces off against Gyokko, the Upper Rank Five demon. Muichiro is a prodigy who mastered the Breath of Mist in a short time, but he also suffers from memory loss and a lack of emotions. In this episode, we learn more about his tragic past and his relationship with his brother Yuichiro, who died trying to protect him from a demon.
The episode also shows us the true power and potential of Muichiro, who manages to overcome his doubts and fears and unleash his strongest technique: Mist Breathing: Seventh Form – Obscuring Clouds. With this move, he creates a dense fog that conceals his presence and movements, allowing him to strike Gyokko with multiple slashes. He also awakens a special mark on his forehead that boosts his strength and speed. It is a mark that was first seen on Yoriichi Tsugikuni, the first Breath user and the strongest demon slayer in history.
The Ending and the Post-Credits Scene
The episode ends with Muichiro breaking the pot that Gyokko was hiding in and finding his real body inside. However, after the credits, there is a scene where Tanjiro and Giyu are fighting against Akaza, the Upper Rank Three demon.
