The Devil Is a Part-Timer!! anime is coming back with more fun and action this July!
The official website for the anime series The Devil Is a Part-Timer!! has released the second promotional video for its upcoming sequel. The video features a preview of the new season’s opening and ending theme songs, as well as the announcement of three additional cast members. The sequel is set to premiere on July 13, and the website has also unveiled the key visual for the new season.
The newly revealed cast members include:
- Tomokazu Sugita as Farfarello
- Megumi Han as Erone
- Chikahiro Kobayashi as Camael
- Madoka Asahina as Acieth Alla (previously announced)
The ending theme song, titled “bloomin’,” will be performed by singer Liyuu, while the opening theme song, “Hikari no Nai Machi” (A City Without Lights), will be performed by nano.RIPE.
The sequel is scheduled to premiere on July 13 at 11:30 p.m. on the TOKYO MX and BS11 channels. It will also be available for streaming exclusively in Japan on Disney+ Star at the same time. The anime will later air on the MBS and AT-X channels.

Although the staff refers to the sequel series as the “2nd season,” this is only to differentiate it from the first anime series, The Devil is a Part-Timer!, which has one exclamation point in its title. The upcoming July series will actually be the third overall television anime season for the franchise.
The Devil Is a Part-Timer!! initially premiered in July 2022, and it was also made available for streaming in Japan exclusively on Disney+ at the same time as its broadcast premiere. Crunchyroll also streamed the show as it aired in Japan.
For the new season, Daisuke Tsukushi and Studio 3Hz have taken over as director and studio, replacing Naoto Hosoda and White Fox, respectively. The team behind the series, including script supervisor Masahiro Yokotani, musical composer Ryosuke Nakanishi, color key artist Akemi Tejima, and music production company Lantis, have returned for the sequel. Yūdai Iino has been appointed as the character designer, and Yoshihiro Takeda will serve as the chief animation director, taking over from Atsushi Ikariya, who held both positions in the first season. The opening theme song, “Hikari no Nai Machi” (Town Without Light), will be performed by nano.RIPE, while Liyuu will perform the ending theme song, “bloomin’.”
The returning cast members include:
- Ryota Ohsaka as Sadao Maō/Demon King Satan
- Yōko Hikasa as Emi Yusa/Heroine Emilia
- Nao Tōyama as Chiho Sasaki
- Yūki Ono as Shirō Ashiya/Demon General Alciel
- Hiro Shimono as Hanzō Urushihara/Demon General Lucifer
- Kanae Itō as Suzuno Kamazuki
Hina Kino takes on the role of Alas Ramus, a mysterious little girl who was born from an apple.
The first anime adaptation of the series premiered in 2013. Funimation streamed the anime as it aired and later released it on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in 2014. Yen Press is responsible for publishing both the original light novels and Akio Hiiragi’s manga adaptation. Here’s a brief description of the story:
After suffering a resounding defeat from the hero Emilia, the Devil King and his general find themselves transported to a parallel universe, right in the heart of bustling modern-day Tokyo! Unable to use their magic to return home, they must assume human identities and live ordinary lives until they can find a solution. To make ends meet, Satan takes up a job at a nearby fast food restaurant. As he sets his devilish mind on climbing the ranks of management, what will become of his thirst for conquest?!
Satoshi Wagahara launched the light novels with illustrations by 029 in 2011. Hiiragi’s manga adaptation began serialization in Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine in December 2011. Another manga spinoff titled Hataraku Maou-sama!! High School! was drawn by Kurone Mishima and published in Kadokawa’s Dengeki Maoh magazine from 2012 to 2015. Yen Press has also published all five volumes of the manga.
In August 2021, the ComicWalker website introduced a manga spinoff titled Hataraku Maou-sama!! no Meshi! with a gourmet theme. The manga, illustrated by Oji Sadō, adapts the latest spinoff volume from the light novel series, which bears the same title. The corresponding novel volume was released in February 2019.
