One of the most challenging parts of being an anime lover is watching an episode, knowing it will be the last. As they say, all good things come to an end. However, some fans wanted more from the powerful esper, Kageyama Shigeo, and believed it ended too soon. Are you one of them?
The story of the esper recently concluded last December 2022. Mob Psycho 100 has gained the love and support of fans since it was released in 2006.
The story follows the life of an introverted middle schooler with innate multiple psychic powers. Despite being powerful, he wanted to suppress his abilities and chose to have a much more normal life. Many fans fell in love with his character, not because of his overkill abilities but because Mob is a true gem with immense kindness and love toward others.
The creator of the manga, ONE, is also known for other works of art, such as One Punch Man. One worked together with Studio Bones in releasing the first episode of Mob Psycho 100 in September 2016.
During its first year, Mob Psycho 100 instantly proved itself by winning Best Fight and Best Action during the first Crunchyroll Anime Awards (January 2017). It was also awarded the annual Best in Animation Effects and Sequences in 2017 by Anime Trending. The awards received by the show proved that in its first year, it deserves to be more recognized and anticipated by fans.
Is Mob Psycho 100 Worth Watching?
For those who haven’t watched it yet. The answer to the question is…YES! No fans would be questioning how fast it ended if it wasn’t a good anime, to begin with.

Although seasons 1 to 3 already showed a massive development of the main character, Kageyama Shigeo. Fans wanted more of him. Why? Well maybe because not only does the anime offers action-packed scenes, but it also offered fans plenty of laughs, quirkiness, and relatable scenes.
Even with overkill psychic abilities Shigeo also known as Mob never had the intention to take advantage of his innate abilities. Hence, fans believed that aside from its action-packed scenes, Mob Psycho 100 is also a feel-good anime.

Also, it is not only during its first year that the show got recognized. In fact, Mob Psycho 100 won and got nominated for multiple awards since its release. After the tear-jerking end of the Mob Psycho 100 – Season 3 Episode 12, it instantly took the top spot for the Weekly Fall Anime Ranking 2022 for the first time in three seasons.

The ranking was based solely on community feedback. This just shows that so many anime lovers wanted to see the final of Shigeo Kageyama, and the other characters of the story.
Mob Psycho 100 is an anime that shares the everyday fun and struggles of its characters. The story doesn’t just focus on its main protagonist, but almost gave a glimpse of all its characters which made it so good. This possibly made the fans become more attached to the show which made it harder to say goodbye.
Was the Ending Too Soon?
Yes… and No. The highly anticipated Mob Psycho 100 reached its powerful conclusion last December 2022. The third or final season of the anime adaptation covered the last three arcs of the manga, Divine Three Arc to Epilogue Arc.
The original Mob Psycho 100 manga had 16 volumes with a total of 101 chapters. On one hand, the anime adaptation had 3 seasons with 12 episodes each. If you ask me, this is quite good for the length of a show; however, for some fans, it was just too good to end soon.
Although fans want to see more of the powerful esper, we cannot deny that we have seen what is to be seen.
Throughout the three seasons of the show, we have seen the world of Kageyama Shigeo who was suppressing his powers, and to him finally, accepting his fate as an esper.
Hence, the ending wasn’t too soon. Mob Psycho 100 was meant to end that way since there were no manga arcs left to adapt. Fans wanting more. Topping the charts. Award Nominations and Wins. These prove that Mob Psycho 100 gave its fans an ending that did not disappoint.
The official English Twitter for Mob Psycho 100 tweeted, “Thank you for everything, Mob.” For the anime finally reached its end after six years of defeating evil spirits and espers.
The tweet caused a lot of emotional reactions among fans who joined Mob’s adventure since the first season.
So far, no news regarding any Mob Psycho 100 comeback has been announced. But, this doesn’t mean that we won’t ever get to see Shigeo Kageyama and his friends. Many anime have produced feature films that were not based on the original manga. With Mob Psycho’s popularity and success, hopefully, this will also happen someday.
