Unfortunately, Iruma doesn’t naturally have a pair of wings because he is only a human being. However, he can obtain wings through the assistance of Alikred, activating “Pandora” mode at the Ring of Gluttony, and by channeling his core magic into anything he visualizes based on the recent seasons of Welcome to demon school, Iruma-Kun. To learn more about this, continue reading below.

Demon Wings Are Important
As evident in the 10th episode of Welcome to demon school, Iruma-kun! In season 2, Balam explained that the ecosystem in the Netherworld is vicious, entailing the survival of the fittest. As a result, the demons gained wings and tails as they evolved in order to thrive despite the harsh environment in the demon world.
Specifically, the wings are a crucial asset for demons when it comes to battles because they grant them the ability to fly and escape if their lives are in danger. In connection with this, Balam hypothesized that humans must be living in a peaceful environment because, compared to demons, they don’t have special features.

Iruma Doesn’t Have Wings
In the 4th episode of Welcome to demon school, Iruma-kun! It was revealed that Iruma really doesn’t possess such wings. As we can all remember, the abnormal class conducted a race to the flag at the end of the valley in order to determine what their rank was. The goal of the activity was to assess the students’ basic capabilities concerning the methods they would use to quickly reach the goal without having much difficulty as they moved along the course.
Moving forward, when the race officially started, the students quickly took off from the starting point, but Iruma, who lacked wings as a human, was stranded at the top of the cliff, attempting to figure out how to proceed. His teacher, Kalego, misunderstood his predicament as laziness and pushed him off the cliff. Consequently, Iruma plummeted helplessly from the sky, unsure of what to do next.
Fortunately, he emerged unscathed as he landed in the nest of a mystical creature. Skipping ahead to the end of the race, Iruma managed to complete it with the aid of the magical beast’s guardian, whom he had previously assisted during the course. The class was amazed when the massive creature deposited him at the finish line. Consequently, we infer that this episode verifies that Iruma lacks wings since no scene depicts him flying independently thus far.

Alikred Gives Iruma Wings
Since arriving in the Netherworld, Iruma has been apprehensive about being discovered as a human, fearing that he might become prey to demons. However, in the 10th episode of Welcome to demon school, Iruma-kun! season 2, Iruma’s secret was finally discovered by one of the teachers.
The episode commenced with Balam giving a lecture on Fantastical Creatures, aiming to educate the students about the diverse creatures in the demon realm and his beliefs regarding the human realm. He emphasized how demons had developed wings and tails through evolution and how these features were critical in battles for survival.
During the lecture, Balam suddenly lifted Iruma to inspect his wings while discussing their significance. However, upon touching Iruma’s back, he failed to locate the roots of his wings, causing him to panic and rush to the faculty office. Balam informed the other teachers that Iruma lacked wings, an uncommon occurrence among demons, which they found difficult to believe. To prove his point, Balam removed Iruma’s upper uniform to demonstrate that his wings were indeed absent. Viewers became worried for Iruma as they thought that if the other characters in the anime knew that he didn’t have wings, the story would have come to an abrupt end.

Thankfully, when Iruma’s back was exposed, Alikred promptly concealed himself within Iruma’s clothing and created fake wings out of his hand to deceive the teachers who were watching. After the commotion, Balam apologized to Iruma because he thought that he had revealed Iruma’s secret of having undeveloped wings. Although he was exceedingly inquisitive, even to the point of inspecting other demons’ bodies, Iruma recognized Balam’s kind nature.
In the end, Iruma felt too comfortable and accidentally confesses to Balam that he is a human being. Good thing that Baalam is a kind demon because he just lectured Iruma not to be too naïve because there is a huge possibility that he can be eaten by other demons. Subsequently, Balam expresses interest in learning more about Iruma’s life as a human, and the episode continues. This incident renders Balam, along with Sulvian and Opera, the sole individuals privy to Iruma’s secret.

Iruma Gets Temporary Wings by Activating “Pandora” Mode
By the end of season 1, episode 18, Iruma uses the “Ifrit” and “Pandora” modes on his ring to rescue the school from Amy, during which he is seen with wings. Sullivan clarifies that Pandora is a chant that releases all mana and should only be utilized in dire situations.
According to Amy, the border he constructed would trap all, endangering students once the bomb detonates, and only a Sullivan-level mana could break it. Because of this, Iruma uses his “Libera” spell, which employs a fiery-blue dragon power, but it fails to break the barrier. In response, Iruma invokes Pandora by shouting “Pandora!” and is suddenly bestowed with wings as he unleashes a significant amount of mana, dramatically increasing the strength of his Libera dragon and shattering Amy’s barrier. We posit that the wings are a component of the Pandora chant, augmenting the user’s power by providing wings, as they vanished once the border was destroyed, along with Iruma’s dragon.

Iruma Got Wings by Using the “Quartz Quarts” Spell
There was a rumor circulating that Iruma possessed wings due to a scene in the third episode of Welcome to demon school, Iruma-kun! Season 3. In this story arc, the plot revolved around the abnormal class receiving a daunting assignment to achieve the 4th rank, “Daleth,” before the end of the term, leaving the students flabbergasted. In order to continue studying at Royal One, they must demonstrate their worthiness for their place. Consequently, Kalego introduced trainers to aid them in becoming formidable individuals to ascend the ranks.
Fast forward: each of the students immediately started their intense training with their respective mentors. In Iruma’s case, his mentor, Bars Robin, sought assistance from his cousin, Barbatos Bachiko, to help him train the students. However, the training under the supervision of Bachiko didn’t quite go as expected because she only assigned Iruma tasks that primarily served her personal interests. Bachiko even admitted that she enjoyed the service of Iruma so much that she forgot about the training.
Nevertheless, when Sullivan talked to her about his grandson’s training, Bachiko realized her neglect. Eventually, she proceeded with real training and started to teach Iruma her way of fighting. She told Iruma about her bloodline magic ability, the Full Marks (One Hundred Shots, One Hundred Hits), which allows her to simultaneously shoot 100 arrows that accurately hit their target despite the distance or any interference.

Afterward, for their first lesson, she taught Iruma how to manifest and create a bow out of the object he holds. This is the part where Iruma is allegedly seen with real demon wings. However, what really happened in the scene was slightly different. Iruma had a hard time deciding what kind of bow he wanted as he was down to his last chance of creating a bow that suited him. Suddenly, Alikred appeared to help Iruma figure out his real desire.
According to him, desire is not about pretty things or protecting someone; desire is all about the true feelings we are hiding. Consequently, Iruma was able to craft a bow that embodied his true self. His unadulterated desire was to stand tall and rise to rank Dalet together with his classmates.
At that very moment, Eligoth and Bachiko arrived at Babirus Academy. When Eligoth opened the door, he discovered a shocking sight, causing Bachiko to rush over to see what had happened. Iruma was standing there with a dark blue bow in his hands and wings attached to his chest, and light emanating from the window. Bachiko was amazed to see Iruma in this state, leading some fans to believe that he had wings. However, it should be noted that Alikred appeared before the creation of the bow, so it is more likely that he is responsible for the manifestation of the wings or that the bow comes with matching wings.
