The anime community is set to welcome a new furry friend later this year with the premiere of the TV anime adaptation Saya Miyauchi’s Dog Signal. Japanese public broadcaster NHK revealed on Friday that the upcoming series will debut on NHK Educational in the fall of 2023. A celebratory illustration was also shared by manga creator Miyauchi to commemorate the news.
Launched in 2018 on Kadokawa’s Comic Bridge website, Dog Signal centers on the life of newbie fur parent Miya Samura as he tries to build a connection with his pet. Forced to take care of a dog left by his ex, Samura one day encounters a miracle-working dog trainer by the name of Shinichirō Niwa. From then on, Samura’s life, goals, and relationships started to take a great leap.
Kadokawa recently shipped the seventh volume of the Dog Signal manga last March 2022. Its eighth volume is scheduled to be released on January 24.
