Toei Animation showed a new trailer for the upcoming anime series Dragon Ball Daima, featuring Goku, during the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour event. The event also displayed a character design image for Goku and Krillin.
Check it out here:
The anime will launch in fall 2024. Masako Nozawa will voice Son Goku again. Yoshitaka Yashima (animation director on Dragon Ball Super, Digimon franchise) and Aya Komaki (One Piece series director, episode director on Marie & Gali) are the series directors. Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru (Dragon Ball Z, Digimon franchise) will animate Akira Toriyama’s character designs. Yuuko Kakihara (Digimon Adventure tri. films, 2022 Urusei Yatsura, Cells at Work!) is the series script supervisor and writer. Akira Toriyama, the creator of the franchise, created the story and character designs of the new anime.
The series follows Goku, Vegeta, Bulma and other characters as they become younger than usual. This is different from the Dragon Ball GT anime, where Goku turns into a kid after the original series. The title “Daima” has no meaning, but the kanji could be read as “Evil” in English.
The Dragon Ball Super TV anime series ran from July 2015 to March 2018, with 131 episodes. Funimation and Crunchyroll streamed the series, and Funimation released it on home video. The Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero anime film debuted in Japan in June 2022, and in the United States in August. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures showed the film in theaters worldwide.
