Gojo Satoru has been sealed for 1155 days, but is he finally coming back? Well, in the Jujutsu Kaisen anime, he is not, but in Gintama? He sure is!
The main series ended not long ago under creator Hideaki Sorachi, but fans have missed the comedy terribly. Gintama will return to television with a spin-off anime, according to sources this week. To whet our anticipation, the series has now debuted its major Jujutsu Kaisen spoof.
If you haven’t already heard, Gintama is making a comeback. A Japanese event stated that 3-nen Z-gumi Ginpachi-sensei (Class 3Z Ginpachi-sensei) will get its own television series. The spin-off, based on a light novel featuring Sorachi, is a parody of school-centric shows like Assassination Classroom. Of course, the Gintama animation will parody other shows.
We already know Jujutsu Kaisen will be one of these mimicked series, thanks to the Gintama teaser. Ginpachi-sensei appears briefly in the video dressed as Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen, and he’s not alone. He is joined by various Gintama actors to bring Jujutsu Kaisen 0 to life, and the result is rather fantastic.
When this Gintama spin-off hits television, anime lovers can expect many more gags. From Dragon Ball to Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Sorachi’s original series ridiculed it all. Now it’s Gintama’s turn to weigh in on manga’s new breed of giants.
You have plenty of time to catch up on the action comedy. The show premiered in December 2003 and continued till June 2019 after a few fake endings. Gintoki Sakata, a freelance samurai who travels with his buddies to pay rent and survive, is the protagonist of the Gintama manga.
Given that they live in an Edo-period Japan that has been overrun by aliens, the trio becomes embroiled in all sorts of crazy escapades. While majority of Gintama is played for laughs, Sorachi included a few sweet moments to keep readers interested. Gintama may be found on Viz Media in the United States, and many of its anime projects are available to watch on Crunchyroll!
