Are you ready to rock with a new anime about a girls’ band? Girls Band Cry is a new original anime by Toei Animation that will premiere in October 2023. The anime’s official website released two music videos featuring the songs “Nameless Name” and “No Rhyme No Reason” by the girls’ band Togenashi Togeari.
Toei Animation describes the anime:
The main character drops out of high school in her second year, and aims at entering a university while working alone in Tokyo. A girl is betrayed by her friends and doesn’t know what to do. Another girl is abandoned by her parents, and tries to survive in the city by doing part-time jobs. This world lets us down all the time. Nothing goes as planned. But we want something that we can continue to like. We believe there’s a place where we belong. That’s why we sing.
The anime follows the story of five girls who form a rock band called Togenashi Togeari. They are:
- Rina as Nina Iseri, an introverted girl who is good at blending in
- Yuri as Momoka Kawaragi, a free-spirited 20-year-old street musician
- Mirei as Subaru Awa, a mature and strong-willed performing arts student
- Natsu as Tomo Ebizuka, an heiress to a rich family, but now on her own in a shared apartment
- Syuri as Rupa, born to a South Asian father and Japanese mother, and a gifted performer
The anime is directed by Kazuo Sakai (Love Live! Sunshine!!) and the character designs are by Nari Teshima. You can also follow the anime’s official Twitter account @girlsbandcry for updates.
If you love rock music and anime, you don’t want to miss Girls Band Cry. It will be a fun and exciting anime that will make you cry and shout with the girls.
