Fans of seinen anime Golden Kamuy will have to wait longer than expected before they can watch the remaining episodes of the anime’s fourth season. The official website and Twitter account for the series announced Tuesday, Nov 8, that episodes 43 to 49 (episodes 6-12 of season four) of the anime will be delayed due to the passing of one its staff member in Nov 1.
The post did not name the deceased but described the member as a “main staff” who is “indispensable” to the production of the project. According to the post, the Golden Kamuy Production Committee and Brains Base are currently deliberating on the new airing date for the episodes. The release dates of Golden Kamuy Season 4’s Blu-ray and DVDs are also currently under review.
New broadcast and distribution dates for the episodes and release dates for the Blu-ray & DVD are set to be announced on the website once decided.
Golden Kamuy began as a manga created by Satoru Noda in 2014. It was launched in Shueisha’s Young Jump magazine and was later adapted into TV anime in 2018 by Genos Studio.

Viz Media, the English publisher of the manga, describes the story as follows:
In the early twentieth century, Russo-Japanese War veteran Saichi “Immortal” Sugimoto scratches out a meager existence during the postwar gold rush in the wilderness of Hokkaido. When he stumbles across a map to a fortune in hidden Ainu gold, he sets off on a treacherous quest to find it. But Sugimoto is not the only interested party, and everyone who knows about the gold will kill to possess it! Faced with the harsh conditions of the northern wilderness, ruthless criminals and rogue Japanese soldiers, Sugimoto will need all his skills and luck—and the help of an Ainu girl named Asirpa—to survive.
