It seems more and more mangakas are facing poor health issues lately. And manga creator Hidekaz Himaruya is the latest addition to those who need to take a short break to focus on their wellbeing. The popular artist announced via Twitter on Wednesday, Nov 30, that his two manga series, Sōri Club (Prime Minister Club) and Hetalia World Stars, will be on a sudden break due to his poor physical condition.
The Tweet states that Hetalia World ☆ Stars will resume serialization on Thursday, Dec 12, while Sōri Club (Prime Minister Club) will return on Jump SQ. magazine’s February issue to be released on Jan 4.
Many fans were quick to extend their worries, with most of them wishing for Himaruya’s quick recovery.
Sōri Club (Prime Minister Club) was launched by Himaruya in the Jump SQ. magazine in 2021. It’s story was described as follows:
Compared to his handsome and athletic twin brother, high school student Daigo Hinata has no talents and does not excel at anything in particular. His uneventful life takes a turn when a well-dressed man whisks him away to the Japanese Diet—a location at the heart of the country’s political action. While trying to understand his purpose there, he receives a special key that grants him access to a beautiful space underneath the Diet.
The secret place is home to the mysterious Prime Minister Club—a group consisting of Japanese prime ministers from eras gone by. The unskilled Daigo learns that he is now a club member and will be the next Prime Minister of Japan! He insists that there is no way someone as plain as him will attain such a position, but under the guidance of former prime ministers, Daigo slowly finds himself training to become the succeeding leader of the nation.
Meanwhile, Hetalia World Stars is released by Himaruya in 2014 and later went on hiatus in 2018. The manga resumed 3 years later and eventually inspired a TV anime that aired in 2021. Its story is summarized as follows:
The nations might not be actively fighting each other, but that does not stop them from arguing about their foreign policies and diverse cultures. Whether they are quarreling over who has the harshest summer, learning more about the ancient Roman Empire’s past, or deliberating their rising obesity rates, there is never a dull moment with North Italy and his allies around.
Hetalia World☆Stars explores current world events and cultural differences through the eyes of personified nations in a lighthearted and entertaining way.
