Hunter x Hunter Manga Returns on October 24th After Four-Year Hiatus

By Janiene LerioOctober 11, 2022

It definitely has been a long time coming for Hunter x Hunter fans, so now’s the time to celebrate! Shueisha announced on Tuesday that the Hunter x Hunter manga will make its long-awaited comeback on October 24, after a four-year hiatus. But wait, the surprise is not over. The official cover of the 37th volume of the manga was also unveiled!

Yoshihiro Togashi’s Hunter X Hunter manga will return after a nearly four-year break in the 47th issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on October 24, according to Shueisha. The manga has been on hiatus since November 2018, and when it restarts, it will have been on hiatus for three years and eleven months.

Furthermore, Viz Media announced that the new chapters would be published in the English edition of Shonen Jump on October 23 (EDT), and that the past chapters of the manga have been posted to the magazine’s digital vault.

Shueisha also revealed the cover of the upcoming 37th compiled book edition of the manga, the comic’s first volume in four years. The book will be available on November 4th. There are currently ten chapters (381-390) of the manga that have not yet been published in a book volume.

In May, Togashi stated in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine that he had completed rough drafts for 10 chapters, which is the standard amount for a volume. He had joked at the time that he had completed seven (six at first) manuscripts out of those ten chapters. He has since kept the account updated with hints of the chapters’ progress. He did not say when the chapters would be released.

In 1998, Togashi published the manga in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Two television anime series, two anime films, and several original video animation titles were inspired by the manga. In October 2018, Shueisha released the manga’s 36th compiled book volume. In August 2019, Viz Media released the 36th volume in North America.

The second television anime adaptation of the manga debuted in Japan in 2011 and lasted 148 episodes. In 2014, the final episode aired.
