Tears are about to roll as Inio Asano’s popular manga Downfall turns into a live-action film. The movie is scheduled to premier on March 17, 2023 and will feature Japanese actor Takumi Saitou as Kaoru Fukusawa, the story’s main lead.
Other cast members for the film include Shuri as Yui Chifuyu, a prostitute who captivated Fukusawa with her cat eye-like feature, and MEGUMI as Nozomi Machida, Kaoru’s wife.

Launched in 2017, Downfall or Reiraku was serialized in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Superior. It was eventually licensed for English release by Viz Media over two years after its original release.
Viz Media describes the story of the manga as follows:
In this realistic view into the manga industry, selling copies is the only thing that matters. So what if your first series just ended and you have no idea how to start the next one, your marriage is breaking up, your pure love of manga has been destroyed by the cruel reality of the industry and nothing seems to fill the sucking void inside you… Find the secret combo for a new hit manga series and everything will be okay. Right?
