Itachi Uchiha is one of the characters in the Naruto series. He is one of the members of the Akatsuki. A mysterious fearsome organization consists of equally strong members from the hidden villages.
Itachi was responsible for killing his clan for peace, leaving only his little brother Sasuke Uchiha behind. However, some fans argue that he is a hero because he committed a heinous crime, and joined the Akatsuki to protect his village and brother.
Was Itachi’s Sacrifice Worthy to Make Him a Hero?
The Naruto series has ended for quite some time now. But, arguments revolving around whether Itachi Uchiha is a hero in disguise or a villain are still discussed online and offline.

Itachi Uchiha may not have that much screen time; however, most of his scenes are difficult to forget. Recalling what Itachi Uchiha did in the series may help find the answer to these questions. Here is a list of some of the unforgettable Itachi moments throughout the Naruto series:
1. Itachi Killing His Clan
Of course, who would forget the night of the Uchiha incident? For the record, Itachi did not wipe off his entire clan for nothing. The Uchiha clan, led by their father, Fugaku Uchiha, had planned a coup d’etat to bring downfall to the current Konoha leadership. With tears in his eyes, Itachi even ended his parents’ life. What made this scene more emotional and heartbreaking was his father’s last words:
“Itachi, promise me this. Take care of Sasuke
“Do not fear. This is the path you have chosen. Compared to you, our pain will be over in an instant. Even if our philosophies differ, I am proud of you. You are truly a kind child.”
Fugaku Uchiha (Naruto Shippuden)
Indeed his father’s words showed that Itachi was more of a Shinobi than an Uchiha. Argumentatively speaking, accepting a mission that commands you to kill off your entire clan is no easy task. It will undoubtedly have consequences. To Itachi, his consequence was his brother because he also became a rogue ninja.
2. Akatsuki Member
The proclaimed prodigy of the Uchiha Clan: Itachi Uchiha, was one of the members of the organization consisting of rogue ninjas called Akatsuki. Itachi was considered one of the most intelligent and vital members of the organization. Initially, Akatsuki was established by Jiraiya’s students, Nagato, Yahiko, and Konan, whose goal was to achieve true peace. But, it all got swayed to a different path when Obito came into the picture.

Itachi’s role in the organization has brought him a lot of conflicts because it was revealed later that he didn’t join with the interest of bringing chaos. Instead, he did it for the benefit of his village and little brother.
3. Fighting His Brother
One of the most awaited scenes in the Naruto series was the fight between the Uchiha siblings – Itachi and Sasuke. Sasuke has expressed his intention to kill his brother. The betrayal that Sasuke felt from his brother led him toward this goal.

Their fight proved that Itachi’s plan to make Sasuke stronger by pushing him to his limit was successful. As someone who faced life’s cruelty at an early age, Itachi wanted his brother to grow as a shinobi who could surpass all challenges brought by the world’s negativity.
4. Beating Kabuto
Everyone has their way of redemption. For Itachi, it was his fight with Kabuto. Kabuto is one of the main villains in the series that made the main characters’ lives harder.
Also, just days after Itachi’s death. He was brought back because of Kabuto’s Edo Tensei or Reanimation Jutsu. The ninjas who fought during the Fourth Great Ninja War had difficulty battling the Edo Shinobis.
Still, Edo Itachi was not one of them. He freed himself from this jutsu and beat Kabuto using one of his clan’s ultimate jutsu – Izanami. One of the most badass lines of the prince of crows was actually from this fight. Itachi proudly said that every jutsu has a weakness, and for the Reanimation Jutsu, it was his existence.

Itachi Uchiha was no doubt a broken hero. As the story continues, fans will know that a deeper reason for his actions and sacrifices always existed. Hence, Itachi was not a cold-blooded human. He was a true shinobi.
