2023 is off to a great start, especially for many Jojo fans. Two years since the live-action series Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan (Kishibe Rohan wa Ugokanai), a spinoff from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure manga, premiered, a live-action film is now scheduled to debut in May of 2023. The movie will be titled Kishibe Rohan Louvre e Iku and will include the same cast and staff from the previous live-action series.
A trailer and visual were unveiled on the film’s official website on Wednesday, January 4. Check out the materials below!

Issey Takahashi will once again star as Rohan Kishibe, along with Marie Iitoyo, who plays Kyōka Izumi. Kazutaka Watanabe, director of the live-action series, will also direct the upcoming movie. Yasuko Kobayashi, writer of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure anime, will also be writing the scripts.
Other staff members include Naruyoshi Kikuchi (Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt), who will handle the music, and Isao Tsuge (Attack on Titan), who will supervise the character design. Naoko Saitō, Keisuke Tsuchihashi, and Sangkeun Han will serve as the production coordinators.
Launched in 1997, Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe is a series of one-shots written and illustrated by Hirohiko Araki. It is a spinoff from the fourth part of Araki’s JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure manga.
The upcoming film will cover the story of a one-shot of the same name. According to Takahashi (actor of Rohan), the movie may be considered as the “ninth episode” of the live-action series.
NBM Publishing published the full-color version of Rohan at the Louvre manga in 2012. It describes the story as follows
Rohan, a young mangaka, meets a beautiful mysterious young woman with a dramatic story. Seeing him draw, she tells him of a cursed 200 year old painting using the blackest ink ever known from a 1000 year old tree the painter had brought down without approval from the Emperor who had him executed for doing so. The painting meanwhile had been saved from destruction by a curator of the Louvre. Rohan forgets this story as he becomes famous but ten years later, visiting Paris, he takes the occasion to try and locate the painting. Little does he know how violently powerful the curse of it is until he has the museum unearth it from deep within its archival bowels…
The cast and staff are said to be currently in France for the filming of the movie. More details are expected to be revealed soon.
