Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Tops Weathering With You as the 6th Biggest Anime Film of All-time Worldwide

On Thursday, the staff of the anime film Jujutsu Kaisen 0 disclosed that the film sold over 20.51 million tickets, earning over 26.5 billion yen (approximately US$191.1 million) globally.

According to the Numbers website, the picture has a worldwide box office total of US$195,870,885. Jujutsu Kaisen 0 has surpassed Weathering With You’s all-time worldwide earnings of US$189,981,720, making it the sixth highest-earning anime film of all time worldwide, unadjusted for inflation.

Only Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train, three Hayao Miyazaki films (Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, and Ponyo) and Makoto Shinkai’s name are now available. have earned more than Jujutsu Kaisen 0 in the globe

The film is about Yuta Okkotsu who gets enrolled in the Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School to help him control his power and keep an eye on him after he obtains control of an incredibly powerful, cursed spirit

Outside of Japan, the film was shown in 89 countries and regions, with 10.67 million tickets sold for about 12.7 billion yen (approximately US$91.4 million). The film is the fourth highest-grossing Japanese film in the United States. The film’s run in Japan finished on May 29 after 157 days at the box office, with 9.80 million tickets sold. 

After its run concluded, the film surpassed The Last Samurai to become Japan’s 15th highest-grossing film of all time. The film has surpassed Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time as the highest-earning film in Japan for the calendar year 2021. 

The film is based on Gege Akutami’s manga prequel narrative Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Tokyo Toritsu Jujutsu Kt Senmon Gakk (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School), with MAPPA animating and TOHO distributing. Yuta Okkotsu was portrayed by Megumi Ogata, and Rika Orimoto was voiced by Kana Hanazawa.
