The latest chapters of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga have placed Megumi Fushiguro in his most dangerous situation yet, as Sukuna has taken over his body. However, there is still hope for Megumi, as there is one potential savior who can rescue him from the clutches of the King of Curses. The Jujutsu Kaisen manga is now in a wild new phase of the Culling Game arc. While previously only concerned with the deadly tournament, Yuji Itadori and the others must now contend with Sukuna‘s plan to escape Yuji’s body and take over Megumi’s body.
In the latest chapters, Sukuna has made conscious efforts to bury Megumi’s soul deep within himself with negative feelings to prevent Megumi from regaining control of his body. The last time we saw Megumi, he appeared to be in bad shape. However, there is still a chance that Yuji may be able to free Megumi from Sukuna by reaching the Megumi that lies deep within the Curse’s soul.
How Can Yuji Save Megumi?
In the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, it was previously explained that despite Sukuna taking over Megumi’s body, Megumi was fighting back by limiting Sukuna’s power output. However, this has caused emotional damage to Megumi, which the King of Curses cannot inflict any further. As a result, Sukuna targeted Yorozu, hoping to kill the reincarnated sorcerer and eliminate Megumi’s last hope, his stepsister Tsumiki. With Yorozu’s defeat in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 219, it seems like Sukuna’s plan has succeeded.
Although Megumi is currently in a state of despair, Yuji understands being possessed better than anyone else. The two fighters have grown close since their collaboration at the beginning of Jujutsu Kaisen. While Sukuna previously defeated Yuji easily, he is not yet out of the fight. In a full-on battle between the two, Yuji could potentially connect with Megumi’s soul and bring him back from the brink of darkness.
