Romance Anime fans, you get luckier each day! It was announced on Wednesday, 7th of September 2022, that Karuho Shiina’s Kimi ni Todoke – From Me to You manga is set to release a live-action show that will exclusively stream on Netflix worldwide next year (2023).
The main characters of the live-action show are Sara Minami (Ride or Die and The Good Father) and Oji Suzuka (The Tunnel to Summer, Exit of Goodbye, live-action Horimiya, and Hoshizora no Muko no Kuni) is cast as Sawako Kuronuma and Shota Kazahaya, respectively.
The show will be a joint production of TV Tokyo and Netflix. Takehiko Shinjo, who was included in the production of Your Lie in April, I Give My First Love to You, and Beyond the Memories, is set to direct the live-action show along with Takeo Kikuchi, known for Tokyo Alice. Hayato Miyamoto, a production member of Komi Can’t Communicate, is writing the script for the project.

Kimi ni Todoke is about the story of Sawako Kuronuma, whose also known for her nickname, Sadako, because of her long black hair and pale skin. This made others think of her as gloomy. Then she meets Shota Kazahaya, the popular kid who builds up a friendship with Sawako that eventually blossoms into a beautiful romance.
Karuho Shiina first published the manga in Bessatsu Margaret in 2006. It officially ended in November 2017. Shueisha published and compiled the manga’s 30th and final volume in March 2018. A Spin-off was created by the same author after the success of Kimi ni Todoke and it ran from April 2018 – May 2022. Viz Media published and licensed the English version of the manga, and the last volume was published in December 2018.

Kimi ni Todoke also has an anime adaptation which is available for viewing on home video. NIS America released both seasons of the television anime adaptation, and a live-action film opened in Japan last 2010.
