Kimi ni Todoke is about the story of Sawako Kuronuma, whose also known for her nickname, Sadako, because of her long black hair and pale skin. This made others think of her as gloomy. Then she meets Shota Kazahaya, the popular kid who builds up a friendship with Sawako that eventually blossoms into a beautiful romance.

Karuho Shiina first published the manga in Bessatsu Margaret in 2006. It officially ended in November 2017. Shueisha published and compiled the manga’s 30th and final volume in March 2018. A Spin-off was created by the same author after the success of Kimi ni Todoke and it ran from April 2018 – May 2022. Viz Media published and licensed the English version of the manga, and the last volume was published in December 2018.

Kimi ni Todoke also has an anime adaptation which is available for viewing on home video. NIS America released both seasons of the television anime adaptation, and a live-action film opened in Japan last 2010.
