The fifth season of Kingdom, a historical anime based on Yasuhisa Hara’s manga, has released a trailer that runs for more than 90 seconds, despite being called a teaser. The trailer follows several promotional images and cast reveals.

The anime will start airing in Japan on January 6 (or January 7 at midnight JST). The manga, which is set in the Warring States period and published by Shueisha, began its anime adaptation in 2012, and the fourth season came out in 2022. According to Crunchyroll, the anime’s synopsis is:
Shin and Hyou are war-orphans in the kingdom of Qin. They dream of proving themselves on the battlefield until the day Hyou is captured by a minister. The boy manages to escape and return to his village, but he is badly injured. Shin then meets a mysterious youth who bears an eerie resemblance to Hyou—a boy who will one day become emperor!
The Kingdom manga has been running in Weekly Young Jump since 2006 and has 70 volumes as of November 2023. The manga has also spawned three live-action movies, with the latest one released on July 28 in Japan.
