Toei Animation announced a sequel to the 2014 3DCG anime movie Expelled from Paradise. They called it Liberation from Paradise. The new film is still in the early stages of production. However, they revealed a key visual and a teaser video. They show its heroine Gabriel facing a harsh snowy landscape with a fiery resolve.
Gabriel is a DEVA agent, like Angela Balzac, the main character of Expelled from Paradise. She wears a similar leotard-like outfit. Her design was first revealed in a teaser visual in November 2022. Along with it, Toei Animation released a new project announcement video.

In July 2021, Seiji Mizushima, the director of Expelled from Paradise, announced a new project. He was working with Gen Urobuchi, the scriptwriter of Expelled from Paradise and the series composer of Puella Magi Madoka Magica, and Masatsugu Saitou, the character designer of Expelled from Paradise and the co-main designer of Eureka: Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution. They had been talking about making a sequel to Expelled from Paradise for “about five or six years.”
Expelled from Paradise is set in a world where most of humanity lives in a virtual society called DEVA. A hacker breaches DEVA’s security. Angela has to track him down. She is sent to the devastated Earth with a physical body.
