On Thursday, the cast of the live-action sequel film based on Aoi Hiiragi’s manga Whisper of the Heart (Mimi o Sumaseba) released a new video that unveiled one of the many filming locations of the new sequel. The 360° movie features behind-the-scenes footage of Seiji’s residence in an Italian village, as well as the filming of Seiji’s performance, in which he plays cello in a street ensemble performing Michio Yamagami’s “Tsubasa o Kudasai.”
In the final scenes of the original film, the main character, Seiji expresses a desire to become an apprentice to a luthier in Cremona, Italy, one of the world’s most well-known cities for luthiers of orchestral string instruments. The live-action supposedly follows his life in the city.
The live-action picture was supposed to be released on September 18, 2020, however, it was pushed back to October 14 because of the COVID-19 epidemic.
Nana Seino plays Shizuku Tsukishima, while Tori Matsuzaka plays Seiji Amasawa in the film. Tsubasa Nakagawa and Runa Yasuhara play Shizuku and Seiji in middle school, respectively.

The new film’s plot takes place ten years after the events of the original manga. Shizuku, now 24, has given up her dream of becoming an author in order to work as a children’s book editor at a publishing business. Meanwhile, Seiji continues to pursue his ambition abroad, despite the growing distance between him and Shizuku.
Yoshifumi Kond and Studio Ghibli made an animated feature based on the original manga in 1995. Shizuku, a junior high school bookworm, has an accidental encounter with a mystery antique shop and the boy Seiji Amasawa, the business’s owner’s grandson. Shizuku has become interested in Seiji, a novice violin maker, after noticing his name on the checkout cards of the books she reads from the library. Shizuku is inspired to write a novel by Seiji’s love for violin building.
More details on the Live-action sequel of Whisper of the Heart should be revealed soon!
