Lucky Star Manga Returning After 8 Years of Hiatus

By AzailSeptember 5, 2022

Kagami Yoshimizu’s (Eden of Grisia, Maesetsu! Opening Act) Lucky Star manga is making a comeback this November 10th after 8 years of being on hiatus.  The third issue will be returning on Kadokawa’s Mitaina! Magazine as announced by the doujin circle C2 Kikan on Twitter on Saturday.

Lucky Star is a comedy series revolving around 4 girls tackling the issues of high school life like the proper way to eat choco cornet, setting up event flags in an onsen, and how to efficiently navigate the maze of Comiket.

Kadokawa’s Comptiq Magazine serialized the four-panel manga series in December 2014.  In August 2005 a drama CD based on the series was released and garnered four video games from 2005 to 2009.  In 2014 Viz Media acquired digital publishing rights to the series.

Kyoto Animation produced the 24-episode anime adaption that was aired between April 18 to September 16, 2007.

Kadokawa Pictures licensed the anime in North America and distributed it by Bandai Entertainment between May 2008 and March 2009.  The original video animation (OVA) was released on September 26, 2008, with Bandai Entertainment releasing the English-sub-only version of the OVA on August 4, 2009.

Currently, the anime is licensed by FUNimation.

Lucky Star’s hiatus in 2014 was due to Yoshimizu’s preparation for a new project.
