My Hero Academia Might Be Coming To an End Soon, Results of the “Final Popularity Poll” Revealed

By Janiene LerioFebruary 4, 2023

Are you ready to see another good Shonen manga come to an end? Right before its hiatus, My Hero Academia author, Kohei Horikoshi revealed the results of what he thinks would be the series’ “final popularity poll”.

My Hero Academia’s Paranormal Liberation War Arc concluded in the most recent episodes of the Shonen’s anime adaptation, while the manga’s Final Arc is presently taking place in the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump. While creator Kohei Horikoshi has been tight-lipped on how many more chapters will focus on the world of UA Academy before saying good-by to Class 1-A, the new statement from the mangaka may give us a dismal hint as to how much time is left.

In a recent popularity survey for My Hero Academia’s characters, the eighth in the manga’s history, creator Kohei Horikoshi intimated that this character vote may be the final for the franchise, implying that the conclusion may be closer than we believe.

The author says:

The story is going through some chaos and sadness but I’m here to announce the results of the 8th popularity poll. Thank you very much for the votes and for all the support! I think this was probably the final popularity poll. Thank you.

A significant event is presently taking place as Deku and Shigaraki square off for what will most likely be the final time. With several important conflicts taking place in the Final Arc, like Shoto Todoroki against his evil elder brother Dabi and Endeavor and Hawks teaming together to face All For One, Horikoshi hasn’t suggested that his beloved Shonen series would continue when this tale concludes. While the anime adaptation hasn’t stated how many more seasons it will have before also ending, we may see two more in the works, if not a movie or two.

Though it may seem like it’s a little too soon, the manga for My Hero Academia has actually announced a two-week hiatus due to a health issue with author Kohei Horikoshi, and with the closing panel of the previous chapter hinting at the ultimate confrontation between Deku and Shigaraki, it’s going to be a long wait for many Shonen fans.
