2023 has just become more exciting for rom-com anime fans as hit manga series My Love Story With Yamada-kun at Lv999 announced its television anime adaptation will premiere in April 2023. The announcement was made on the official website of the series on Saturday, Dec 24. A Christmas visual was also posted to commemorate the news.

Written and illustrated by Mashiro, My Love Story With Yamada-kun at Lv999 was serialized on Comic Smart’s Ganma! manga website in March 2019. Its print edition was published by Media Factory’s MF Comics imprint.
Mangamo, the manga’s publisher in English, describes its synopsis as follows:
Recently dumped, Akane is just about to quit the game she used to play with her boyfriend, when she meets Yamada in the same RPG. Yamada in real life turns out to be somewhat of a legend. The only problem is – he is ONLY interested in the game. As Akane’s feelings grow, will Yamada’s focus stay on the game?
The manga became such a hit it was previously announced to be the most read series on the Mangamo app in July 2022. The series also snatched the the Grand Prize in the 6th Annual Tsutaya Comic Awards 2022 and currently has over 1 million copies in circulation in Japan.
News about the manga getting a TV anime adaptation was first announced in September 2022 during the Aniplex Online Fest event.

Voice actor Inori Minase will be voicing Akane, while Kouki Uchiyama will be voicing Yamada.
Morio Asaka (Chihayafuru, Card Captor Sakura, My Love Story!!) is directing the anime, with Yasuhiro Nakanishi (A Couple of Cuckoos, Kaguya-sama: Love is War) writing the scripts. Kunihiko Hamada is designing the characters.
