The Mysteries, Maidens, and Mysterious Disappearances (Kaii to Otome to Kamikakush) manga will be getting an anime adaptation! A teaser video and the key visual have been shared to celebrate this wonderful piece of news. However, there are no details yet about the premiere date so further announcements will be made by the anime’s official Twitter and website. Here’s hoping that we will get news soon!

The teaser video include some shots from real life places in Japan before it flashes into 2D anime. Snippets from the manga depicting the characters were also shown afterwards. It overall gives the feeling of eeriness and uncertainty.

Strange incidents are occurring in the city. Sumeriko, an aspiring writer and a seemingly plain woman, attempts to face them head-on. Sumeriko also happened to have an alluring body, which caught the attention of Adashino, a book store clerk. Adashino also hides a lot of mysteries about himself, which adds a lot of intrigue in the story.

Mysteries, Maidens, and Mysterious Disappearances seinen manga is authored and illustrated by Nujima. It serialized on Shogakukan’s Yawaraka Spirits website last October 2019. It was later published as a paperback and e-book in April 2020. As of January 2023, there are 5 volumes available.

The manga was nominated in the Next Manga Awards in 2020 under the category of Web manga. These annual awards is the collaboration between Kadokawa’s Da Vinci magazine and Niconico video-sharing website.
