Wright Films and TMS Entertainment announced that they are producing Lupin Zero, a six-episode net anime series that will begin streaming in December.
The cast, theme song information, and streaming services will be revealed at a later date. The anime will premiere at the Anime NYC convention on November 18-20 at 6:30 p.m.
HIDIVE revealed that it would stream Lupin Zero starting on December 16.
Directing the anime at Telecom Animation Film is chief animation director Daisuke Sako (Lupin the Third: Part 5, Blood-C, Lupin III Italian Game). Ichiro Okouchi (Berserk: The Golden Arc – Memorial Edition, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re:ssurection, DEVILMAN crybaby) is in charge of the series scripts, and Asami Taguchi is designing the characters. Yoshihide Otomo (Otona no Ikkyu-san, INU-OH) will be the series music composer. Seiichi Shirato (Jormungand, Drifters, Lupin III: Goemon’s Blood Spray) is the setting researcher.

The new anime’s plot will center around Lupin III in his youth, combining both original manga and new stories. The show is set in Tokyo in the 1960s.
Lupin III is a series written and illustrated by Monkey Punch. It follows the exploits of master thief Arsène Lupin III, the grandson of Maurice Leblanc’s gentleman thief Arsène Lupin. The manga first appeared in Weekly Manga Action on August 10, 1967. It spawned a media franchise that includes numerous manga, two animated pilots films, six animated tv series, one spin-off animated tv series, eleven theatrically released animated films, two live-action films, five OVA works, twenty-seven anime tv specials, two musicals, many music CDs and several video games.

Lupin II remains popular fifty years later, with a seventh anime series airing in 2021. The series is also set to have a movie featuring Cat’s Eye entitled Lupin III vs. Cat’s Eye set to release on Amazon Prime Video in 2023.
