It seems the all-girl agents aren’t done with their adventures yet … and we’re ready to see them more in action! Lycoris Recoil, the top anime of Summer 2022, has just announced it will be returning with a new project. The big news was revealed on Saturday, Feb 11, via Twitter with the tagline “Their story has not ended.” The announcement was also coupled with a 57-second teaser video featuring the best moments shared by Chisato and Takina in the previous anime series.
Check out the tweet and teaser below:
Recognized to be one of the most successful series last year, Lycoris Recoil is an original TV anime series produced by A-1 Pictures and features an original story written by Asaura. It aired from July to September 2022. Shingo Adachi directed the anime, with artist Imigimuru as the character designer. Shūhei Mutsuki is the music composer.

Crunchyroll streamed the series. It described the story as such:
For these peaceful days――there’s a secret behind it all. A secret organization that prevents crimes: “DA – Direct Attack”. And their group of all-girl agents: “Lycoris”. This peaceful everyday life is all thanks to these young girls. The elite Chisato Nishikigi is the strongest Lycoris agent of all time. Alongside is Takina Inoue, the talented but mysterious Lycoris. They work together at one of its branches–Café LycoReco. Here, the orders this café takes range from coffee and sweets to childcare, shopping, teaching Japanese to foreign students, etc. It’s mostly tasks unbefitting of Lycoris. The free-spirited and optimistic pacifist, Chisato. And the cool-headed and efficient Takina. The chaotic everyday lives of this mismatched duo begin!
Lycoris Recoil became such a hit, it even inspired a manga adaptation by Yasunori Bizen, a spinoff novel and, most recently, a stage play adaptation.
The anime also won the title of best TV anime of 2022 in an online survey conducted by the Japanese anime website AnimeAnime.jp.
More details about the upcoming project are expected to be announced soon.
