One of the most successful anime films is finally coming to our homes! One Piece Film: Red, the fifth-highest-grossing anime movie of all time, is set to embark on Blu-ray this coming July 11, 2023. The much-awaited release will also come with a collection of special features, which include trailers for the film, a web preview, and three special episodes of One Piece.

The titles of all three special episodes are as follows:

  • “A Faint Memory! Luffy and Red-Haired’s Daughter Uta!”
  • “A Pledge for the New Genesis! Luffy and Uta!”
  • “The Captain’s Log of the Legend! ‘Red-Haired’ Shanks!”

All three are said to cover events that will lead to the story of the main film.

Released on August 6, One Piece Film: Red exploded into a box office hit after securing more than ¥31.9 billion JPY or over $245 million USD in global revenue. The film now stands as the fifth highest-grossing anime film of all time, and the highest-grossing Toei Animation project.

Goro Taniguchi (One Piece Defeat Him! The Pirate Ganzack! OVA) directed the movie, with Tsutomu Kuroiwa (One Piece Film: Gold) as the screenwriter. One Piece manga creator Eiichiro Oda served as the films executive producer.

Crunchyroll describes the story of the movie as follows:

Uta—the most beloved singer in the world whose voice has been described as “otherworldly”—is renowned for concealing her own identity when performing. Now, for the first time ever, she will reveal herself to the world at a live concert.

With the Navy watching closely, the venue fills with Uta’s fans—including excited pirates and the Straw Hats led by Luffy, who simply came to enjoy her sonorous performance—all eagerly awaiting the voice that the whole world has been waiting for to resound. The story begins with the shocking revelation that she is the enigmatic Shanks’ daughter.
