Why the Manga is on Hiatus
The manga will be taking a month-long break as Eiichiro Oda, the author of One Piece, needs to have an eye surgery.
The official Twitter account of One Piece revealed on June 6, 2023, that the author has a severe case of astigmatism, which makes his vision blurry.
This means that the manga will skip four issues of Weekly Shonen Jump (29, 30, 31, 32), and One Piece chapter 1087 will be delayed until July 18, 2023.
However, fans can still enjoy chapter 1086 on June 11, 2023, (June 12 in Japan) as scheduled in issue #28.

What Oda Said About the Hiatus
Eiichiro Oda released a statement regarding the hiatus, a rough translation of which is given below:
I apologize!! I will be taking a break for four issues!! (Jump issues 29, 30, 31, and 32)
Well, regarding the final chapters of ONEPIECE, I want to let you know that I really need to undergo surgery. I will be having a surgery to shoot beams from my eyes!!
I know it may seem like a joke, but I’m telling you because I don’t want to worry you unnecessarily. Recently, I’ve been suffering from severe astigmatism.
You see, things appear blurry to me.
This has been causing difficulties in my work, so I’ve been discussing it with the editor-in-chief since last year. They told me to go ahead and have the surgery!
I’ll work on improving my vision and come back! Please bear with me for a little while!
