The One Piece manga is now working its way through the first major arc of Eiichiro Oda’s long-running series’ Final Saga, and the latest chapter of One Piece has revealed the huge bounty Koby has on his head, indicating how dangerous he is to the pirate world! While Luffy and the Straw Hats were stuck in Wano Country, the One Piece manga continued to flesh out the status of the rest of the seas, and one of the most surprising developments was that Buggy used his power as a new Emperor to form a Cross Guild that would hunt down some of the Navy’s most powerful Marines.
It was informed that Buggy’s new Cross Guild had awarded bounties to the Marines, with stars indicating how valuable they were in comparison to the other members of the Navy (and hence how much problem they cause the pirates). The next One Piece manga chapter returns to this theme by revealing that Koby has since amassed a five-star level bounty among pirates who would pay handsomely for his capture. It appears to have amounted to around five boxes full of wealth.
One Piece Chapter 1080 explains that Koby has been brought to the Pirate Island, Fullalead, after being caught by Blackbeard and his crew. It is mentioned that he has now received a five-star reward from the Cross Guild, worth around 500 million Berries. It’s also a unique instance because Navy Captains are normally only given one star, demonstrating how much attention Koby has received not only during the Wano Country arc, but since the New World tale began in general.
While Koby is only a Captain, he’s been lauded as a huge hero for the enormous saves he’s made since we last saw him in action. This reputation has grown so strong that even pirates recognize how vital and useful he is to the Navy. In fact, Monkey D. Garp has stated that Koby is so important to him that he has invaded Fullalead and begun a big operation only to free Koby from Blackbeard’s clutches.
