Launched in 2012, Psycho-Pass is an original cyberpunk anime set in a dystopian 22nd-century Japan. In the story, society is governed by a powerful innovation called the Sibyl System, which has the capacity to measure a person’s state of mind and criminal potential.
Crunchyroll summarizes its story as such:
In the future, thinking about a crime makes you guilty, and justice is dispensed from the barrel of a gun. Detectives work in teams made up of Enforcers and Inspectors. Enforcers take out the bad guys, and Inspectors make sure their partners don’t cross the line. The equalizer in the war on thugs is the Dominator, a weapon that can tell when citizens are about to turn criminal.
To date, the Psycho-Pass franchise now has a total of three TV anime seasons and three movies.
