The Sailor Starlights are back! Making an entrance with the announcement from the official website for Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Cosmos the Movie (Gekijōban Bishōjo Senshi Sailor Moon Cosmos), the two-part anime film project adapting Naoko Takeuchi’s original Sailor Moon manga’s final “Shadow Galactica” arc. The site streamed a special promotional video for the films. The PV reveals the June 9 and June 30 premiere dates for the movies, as well as the cast members for the three shimmering Starlight members.
The movie stars Saori Hayami, Spy x Family‘s Yor Forger as Taiki Kō/Sailor Star Maker, Marina Inoue, Jujutsu Kaisen‘s Mai Zen’in as Seiya Kō/Sailor Star Fighter, and Ayane Sakura, Spy x Family’s Fiona Frost/Nightfall as Yaten Kō/Sailor Star Healer. The movie will feature a returning cast from the previous film.

On June 3, 2021, Netflix began the international streaming of the two-part Pretty Guardian Sailor Mon Eternal The Movie (Bishōjo Senshi Sailor Moon Eternal) anime film production. The two-part project replaces Sailor Moon Crystal’s fourth season. The films are based on Takeuchi’s original manga’s “Dead Moon” arc.
Originally, the first film was scheduled to release in Japan on September 11, 2020, but it was pushed back to January 8, 2021, due to the spread of the new COVID-19 virus in Japan. Part two of the film premiered in Japan on February 11, 2021. The movie marked the franchise’s first appearance in Japanese theaters in 25 years.

The third season of Sailor Moon Crystal debuted in April 2016, with a new staff and an emphasis on the Death Busters storyline (also known as the Infinity arc). The season was available on Crunchyroll, Niconico, and Hulu. The first two seasons of Sailor Moon Crystal, which debuted online in Japan, were streamed by three platforms as mentioned earlier and others. Sailor Moon Crystal is also available on Netflix.
All three seasons were licensed for distribution in North America by Viz Media. The first season of Sailor Moon Crystal was released in August 2016 on DVD and Blu-ray Disc combo pack, the second in February 2017, and the third in December 2017.
Sailor Moon Stars, the fifth and final season of the original Sailor Moon anime that adapts the “Shadow Galactica” arc, was released on home video for the first time in North America by Viz Media. Sailor Moon Stars was initially broadcast from 1996 to 1997 and ran for 34 episodes.
