Cherry and Adam are two skaters from the famous “sports” anime, SK8 the Infinity. They go by their pseudonyms Cherry and Adam, but their actual names are Kaoru Sakurayashiki (Cherry) and Ainosuke Shindo (Adam). They were friends at some point in time, they even skated together with Joe, another one of Cherry’s closest friends. But because of studies and business, Adam had to move to America, and since then, he had not talked to Cherry at all.
Adam and Cherry appear to have a tumultuous past. Kojiro (Joe) remembers Adam leaving them, implying that the three of them were friends or at least skated together in the past. Cherry condemns his violent behavior and apparent disregard for human life. He admires him as a skilled skater, but nothing more.
After feeling deceived by Tadashi (Adam’s butler/secretary), Adam began skating in a brutal manner in search of an “Eve,” with Joe and Cherry directly watching a young man be hurt during a high-speed race with Adam. Adam had to stop skating with them and go for America at some point.

Cherry wants to confront Adam in the event to settle a 7-year feud over Ainosuke’s reckless skating and to find out what was truly in Adam’s heart. Cherry’s single race in the competition was against Adam, and he stayed up with him, even overtaking him at times, until the finish line, when Adam surged ahead and then spun around to smack Kaoru in the head with his skateboard.
Adam explained to Cherry that he had previously refused his challenges because he deemed Cherry’s skating style to be monotonous and predictable due to his use of AI calculations. Cherry burst out laughing during Reki’s run with Adam when Adam stumbled in the mud and fell. During Adam’s beef (race/competition) with Langa, Cherry made light-hearted remarks about Adam as the two raced neck and neck to the finish.
Adam and Cherry are friends who fell out of affection for each other. Their only common interest was skateboarding, but even that failed them in the end.
SK8 the Infinity is available on Crunchyroll in both Sub and Dub.
