Takumi-kun Series, Shinobu Goto’s iconic boys love novel series that has sold over five million copies since 1992, will be translated into a new live-action picture that will be presented in Japanese theaters in 2023.
From April 1992 to March 2014, the Takumi-kun Series was published in 28 volumes by KADOKAWA’s boys love novel publisher, Kadokawa Ruby Bunko, and from March 2016 to February 2017, the Takumi-kun Series Complete Edition, which included all previous stories in chronological order, was released in 11 volumes.
This school love story about two boys at a prominent boarding school who, via numerous situations, eventually become lovers has been adapted into drama cassettes and CDs, as well as stage performances. Over the course of many years, Shinobu Goto’s Takumi-kun series has been adapted into numerous live-action films. This will be the 6th time it will be shown on theatres.
Shion Morishita, a 19-year-old rookie who has just made his debut in the entertainment sector but has become known for his calming TikTok videos, plays Takumi Hayama. Daigo Kato, 22, best known as Jyushi Aimono in the Hypnosis Mic: Division Rap Battle stage shows, plays Hayama’s boyfriend Giichi Saki. Kenji Yokoi, who began directing the films on the second through fourth films, returns to direct.

Shinobu Goto’s Takumi-kun follows the story of Takumi Hayama who attends Shid Academy, a prestigious elite boarding school in the mountains. Takumi, unlike the other students, is not from a wealthy family and enters the school to escape from a past psychological trauma that causes him to be repulsed by people touching him; as a result, his classmates regard him as soulless and unsociable.
Apart from his roommate, the only person who does not regard him as such is Giichi “Gui” Saki, a popular, gorgeous boy who has recently returned from the United States. As Takumi and Gui enter their second year of high school, Gui surprises Takumi by declaring that he has long been in love with him. As their relationship deepens, Takumi must overcome his history and adversaries who attempt to disrupt their new-found romance as he learns more about Gui.
