The Way of the Househusband
It’s a typical day in the life of a househusband—if your typical househusband is the famed yakuza “the Immortal Dragon”! A former yakuza legend abandons everything to become your average househusband. But leaving the gangster life is not easy, and what should be basic home responsibilities are anything but! He was the yakuza’s most ferocious member, leaving a trail of underworld legends in his wake. The Way of the Househusband portrays the sweet side of a fierce Yakuza, and it is everything you’ll ever need a slice-of-life anime to Be!
Smile Down the Runway

Ready for some slow character development and an underrated story line? Smile down the runway is about an aspiring model and designer who are working their way to the top. With each passing day, they try their hardest to live and thrive in an industry that takes so much from them, but at the same time learn the lesson they need to equip themselves with the knowledge necessary for their careers.
Kono Oto Tomare! Sounds of Life
Another beautiful story of development and art combined in one anime. Kono Oto Tomare follows the story of Takezo Kurata, the lone remaining member of the Koto club, as he attempts to save it by recruiting new members. Unfortunately, playing traditional Japanese music is no longer popular among high school students. Chika Kudo, a “juvenile delinquent” who insists on joining the group, proves to be an unusual candidate. Soon after, they enlist music prodigy Satowa Hozuki, and the unexpected alliance feeds the desire of competing at nationals.
Ouran High School Host Club

Ouran High School Host Club is a romance classic among anime fans. It follows the story of Haruhi Fujioka who was only looking for a place to study inside Ouran Academy, a big school for the elite and ultra-rich. During her quest to find a quiet place, she stumbles upon an empty music room, which turned out to be a club room for the Ouran Host Club where a group of boys who have too much time on their hands entertains ladies who also have too much time on their hands. After knocking over a very expensive vase and having no money to pay for it, Haruhi is forced to work for the Club as one of the hosts.
Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid
A slight warning though, it’s pretty suggestive (well, a lot suggestive). Kobayashi’s dragon maid is about Kobayashi and her act of kindness one drunk night. A big dragon greets office worker Kobayashi as she gets ready for work just outside her front door. The dragon instantly transforms into a human female dressed as a maid and introduces herself as Tohru. Kobayashi had met the dragon, who claimed to be from another world, during a drunken excursion into the mountains the night before. As gratitude, Tohru offers (more like insists) to work for Kobayashi as her maid
Kakushigoto
One very striking plotline of a good slice-of-life is if it has cute children. One of these kinds of anime is Kakushigoto. Kakushigoto is a really good slice-of-life to watch on days that feel slow, it’s a simple yet endearing story that follows the life of an ero-manga author and his daughter. Another interesting fact about this manga is that the title refers to the name of the manga author AND about him hiding his secret life. Kakushi Gotou is a single parent with a secret: he’s a top-selling manga artist of a raunchy series that his little daughter, Hime, may find inappropriate reading material. So he does what any loving father would do: he keeps everything from her, regardless of the consequences!
Blue Period
The plot of this slice-of-life revolves around Yatora, the ideal high school student, with good grades and a large circle of friends. Everything comes naturally to him, friends, football, late night outs, and studying. It’s normal, but it’s boring. But one day, he wanders into the art room, and a lone picture catches his eye, introducing him to a new type of beauty. He rushes in deep, compelled, and consumed—and he’s about to discover how vicious and unforgiving art can be.
The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.
Not a classic, but definitely a must-watch! The disastrous life of Saiki K. follows the story of Saiki and his unusual psychic powers. To the typical individual, psychic powers may appear to be a blessing; yet, for Kusuo Saiki, this could not be further from reality. With superhuman powers ranging from telepathy to x-ray vision, he sees this so-called blessing as nothing more than a curse. As the inconveniences caused by his powers mount, all Kusuo wants is a normal, trouble-free life—a life where ignorance is bliss.
Romantic Killer
Ever wonder how it would feel like to enter an otome game filled with the men you’ve only seen in fiction stories, games, and shows? Well, the life of Hoshino Anzu, the protagonist of Netflix’s newest romantic-comedy anime Romantic Killer pretty much sums up the whole experience of living in an otome game with handsome men of every caliber lurking around you.
Komi Can’t Communicate
Komi, a high school Madonna, appears chilly and superior to her peers. In actuality, her demeanor stems from her inability to communicate with others. Tadano, Komi’s classmate, is adept at reading situations and quickly realizes that Komi suffers from a communication disorder. The plot revolves around typical high school adventures as Tadano assists Komi in gaining the confidence to make a hundred friends!
Kimi ni Todoke (From Me to You)
Another new release on Netflix, Kimi ni Todoke is sure to give you all the butterflies you need for the next 10 years. This narrative revolves around a girl named Kuronuma Sawako, who is dubbed Sadako (the ghost girl from “The Ring”) by her classmates due to her frightening appearance and temperament. She admires Kazehaya from afar because he is “100% refreshing” and has the ability to draw people in with his charm. Despite her expressions, she wishes to make friends and enjoy typical student life.
Kotaro Lives Alone
Another slice-of-life with a kid, but this time the story is more heart-wrenching and pure. The series follows Kotaro, a polite 4-year-old child who moves into an apartment complex by himself. He rapidly becomes friends with the other residents, including a young woman named Mizuki Akitomo, the eccentric Isamu Tamaru, and his next-door neighbor, a failing manga artist named Shin Karino. Kotaro’s life and how he ended up living like way become clearer as the story goes.
So, have you decided which shows you’re watching next?
