Get ready to laugh your heart out next year with the comeback of the surreal gag “Super Normal” anime series. The official website for the anime’s fourth season, titled The Legend of Super Normal Pref. Chiba (Chō Futsū Ken Chiba Densetsu), announced on Wednesday, Jan 11, that the latest season will premiere in January 2024 on Tokyo MX. The announcement was accompanied with a colorful new visual.

The first three seasons of the anime center on the lives of high school girls and their encounters with mysterious creatures in the streets of Kashiwa City in the Chiba Prefecture. The first season, titled The Legend of Super Normal City KASHIWA streamed on YouTube in 2016. This was followed by The Legend of Super Normal City KASHIWA Z in 2019, which also premiered on YouTube. The third season, titled The Legend of Super Normal City KASHIWA R aired in 2020 and was the first to premiere on television.
News about the plan to release a fourth season was first announced in 2020. The upcoming anime will feature new cast members for returning characters. The new main cast now includes:
- Misaki Ikeda as Ako Shagawa
- Momoko Fujisaki as Nagare Tano
- Honoka Arata as Ichika Hashifune
- Aisa Mashio as Chiyo Yasuura
- Yuuka Hiyamizu as Shino Kamatani
- Moa Tsukino as Tega-chan
- Mei Okada as Manuu
- Yuuri Kinoshita as Usaki-chan
- Yume Shinohara as Uno Shagawa
- Shiori Tani as Kiri Hashiratani
- Risa Okuma as Kunugi Nojibe
- Arisa Noto as Misato Hamashiro
Auditions are also ongoing for a new original character named Duel.
Masaya Murai is both directing and handling the scripts for the fourth season. Hiroo Nakamichi serves as the character designer, with Seiji Miura as the theme song producer.
More details about the anime are yet to be revealed.
