Trapped in a Dating Sim Announces Second Season and Reveals Promotional Posters

By Janiene LerioDecember 26, 2022

On Monday, Kadokawa announced that the television anime adaptation of Yomu Mishima’s light novel series Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs (Otome Game Sekai wa Mob ni Kibishii Sekai Desu) will receive a second season.

The first anime animation aired on April 3 on AT-X and Tokyo MX, and on April 4 on Yomiuri TV and BS NTV. On April 3, Crunchyroll began streaming the anime, as well as an English dub.

The light novel series is published in North America by Seven Seas, and the plot is described as follows:

Office worker Leon is reincarnated into a particularly punishing dating sim video game, where women reign supreme and only beautiful men have a seat at the table. But Leon has a secret weapon: he remembers everything from his past life, which includes a complete playthrough of the very game in which he is now trapped. Watch Leon spark a revolution to change this new world in order to fulfill his ultimate desire…of living a quiet, easy life in the countryside!

The animation was directed by Kazuya Miura (DRAMAtical Murder, Full Dive, Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!) and Shinichi Fukumoto at ENGI. The series scripts were written by Kenta Ihara (Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious, Full Dive, Mieruko-chan, Saga of Tanya the Evil), and the characters were designed by Masahiko Suzuki (sub-character design on Full Dive, Overlord II and III, Vivy -Fluorite Eye’s Song-). The anime’s opening theme music, “Silent Minority,” was performed by Kashitarou Itoo, and the ending theme song, “selfish,” was performed by Riko Azuna.

In 2017, Mishima published the story on the Shousetsuka ni Narou (Let’s Be Novelists) website. In Japan, the story is published in print by Micro Magazine’s GC Novels brand, with drawings by Monda. The 11th novel will be released on December 28, along with the first volume of a spinoff novel. On Fujimi Shobo’s Dra Dra Shop service, Jun Shiosato has been serializing a manga adaption.
