After a series of delays, the comedy anime Uncle from Another World is finally on its way to its finale! The official Twitter account for the series announced on Tuesday that the 13th and final episode of the anime will air in Japan on March 8. The said episode will also be available on Netflix but a day later, which is on March 9.
The finale of the hit comedy anime is originally set to premiere on December 29 last year. However, the spread of COVID-19 caused unnecessary delays in the delivery of some materials, prompting the production to delay the release of the episode until 2023.
Prior to this, the anime already encountered multiple delays in the release of its episodes. The first instance happened in August with episode 5 being postponed for two weeks due to COVID-19. Its episode eight and beyond also got delayed in September due to the same reason.
About Uncle from Another World

Uncle from Another World began as a manga written and illustrated by Hotondoshindeiru. The story first appeared on Kadokawa Shoten’s ComicWalker in June 2018. Yen Press, its publisher in English, describes the story as follows:
Seventeen years ago, Takafumi’s uncle fell into a coma, but now he’s back like a man risen from his grave. Soon, Takafumi discovers two bizarre things: His uncle treasures video games above all else, and, while comatose, he was actually transported to another world as some heroic guardian! Now, not only does Takafumi have to room with an uncle who is literally magical, he also has to catch the guy up on two decades of history—smartphones, high-speed internet, modern anime tropes…and the traumatic outcome of the ’90s console war!
Its anime adaptation premiered in July 2022. Shigeki Kawai is directing the series at studio Atelier Pontdarc, with Kenta Ihara writing the scripts. Kazuhiro Ota is serving as the chief animation director.
