Anime composer Hidekazu Tanaka, 35, was arrested in Tokyo on Monday, Oct 24 on suspicion of indecent assault of a teenage girl. He was charged with attempted forcible indecency.
According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, Tanaka followed the minor on the way home, called her out using obscene language, and tried to forcibly grab her hand.

The alleged crime happened in August 2022, around 10:30 p.m. in the Meguro district of Tokyo. The victim got away and reported the incident at a nearby police station, prompting the authorities to open an investigation. The security footage from the subway station revealed that Tanaka followed the girl from the train station.
In a statement, the Metropolitan Police Department’s Himonya Police Station shared Tanaka’s narration of the events. According to the composer, the girl caught his attention at another station. He then decided to get on the same train as her and followed her.
Tanaka has composed music and songs for various anime, including Nyaruko: Crawling with Love!, The IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls, A Place Further Than the Universe, Sword Oratoria: Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, and Hitori Bocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu.
His latest works include the opening song “1・2・3” for Pokémon Journeys: The Series, the opening song “Ichigo Ichie Celebration” for the second season of the Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! , and the ending song “Calendar Girl” for Aikatsu!
